I was so glad to see someone mention this yesterday: it looked 
like the moral equivalent of FreeBSD's portupgrade. but after 
almost 24 hours of listening to the disk thrashing, and noting 
that some things are being built over and over again (kdebase at 
least twice now), is this expected behavior?

Isn't there some way of noting that a given pkg has been touched 
during this run?
