Thanks for response on support for internal modems.

ASA Computers specialize in building systems for Linux and the BSDs, but on
reading the ad in Linux Journal again, OSes listed are Linux/FreeBSD/BSDi/
Solaris/NT.

On the more general i386 computer market, some sellers think PCI modems are
Winmodems, while ISA modems are usable with non-Windows as well as with Windows,
as if it's the PCI or ISA, rather than the hardware controller, that determines
whether a modem is a real modem or Winmodem. There are a few PCI modems with
hardware controller, and I believe there were some ISA Winmodems.

A dealer in one computer store dealing with Windows 98 & ME said the 486 and 386
were 16-bit machines (no joke); I don't think he would have known how to handle
Windows 2000 installation.

On getting or not getting an internal modem to work with NetBSD, there is also
the need to get the hardware address and IRQ correct. Wrong hardware address
and/or wrong IRQ can lead to the conclusion that the internal modem is not
supported.

Now I wonder when NetBSD 1.5.1 release will be ready, whether I should wait for
that or go with 1.5.0.
