First of all, the poster should fix his mailer to only send more esoteric
charset tags on messages where these are actually used. Most of the messages
contain plain ASCII characters, so if taged right would be easily viewable
with any mail reader.

Now, when this happens, the easy way for elm users to escape is:

  |more

This shows the raw contents, and most of the time it's quite readable.
