So you reboot the server machine in which other people run
many programs in several days when you accidentally remove
some libraries?  Static linking /bin & /sbin saves more time
than dynamic one.

Just curious, do you build your own vary-stripped-down
kernel?  GENERIC is huge for older model in these days.
