as i know you use just like SCSI.
my /etc/default/cdrecord file looks like (don't misread /etc/default as
/etc/defaults !!!!)

CDR_DEVICE=/dev/rcd1d
CDR_SPEED=6
CDR_FIFOSIZE=8192k

and i'm almost sure it WILL work if your CD-RW is on IDE
