/etc/defaults ?  Is /etc going to get organized with different subdirectories
now?
 
The default 1.4 install only had about 4-5 subdirectories; I always admired was
the simplicity.

Slowaris boxen at work have, minus the RC stuff *shudder*, 20 sub-dirs.  It's a
bloddy mess.
