I currently have Debian on an i386 laptop, but only because from what
I can see Linux offers the full use of the 1024x768 LCD display on the console
through VESA framebuffers. Other than that, I've generally perferred NetBSD's
system.

So is there any way to obtain a higher resolution console for an LCD
screen under NetBSD? Is there any support for a generic use of VESA framebuffers?
There's X, of course, but sometimes I prefer to stick to the simplicity of
the console.

Thanks,
Derek Moeller
