Subject: mozilla & relatives won't run

I find that any mozilla, or mozilla-derived (e.g. firefox) browser I
try fails -- and rather silently -- to start. Opera, albeit a linux
creature, runs just fine with suse9 installed.

This is a new 3.0 install (i386). After the initial boot of 3.0
stable, I cvs'd the netbsd-3-0 branch, and with build.sh:

built tools
built GENERIC kernel
rebooted
built & installed distribution
rebooted

Here's what I have now:

 $ uname -a
NetBSD nbsdboy.legomenon.org 3.0.0_STABLE NetBSD 3.0.0_STABLE
(GENERIC) #0: Fri Jun  9 18:53:21 EDT 2006
wingnut@nbsdboy.legomenon.org:/usr/obj/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC
i386

Now it seems that, irrespective of whether I use binary packages, or
build from pkgsrc, any mozilla browser just craps out after spinning
the drive for a few mini-seconds. I don't know how to get any more
information about the failure. ldd shows no missing shared libs. gdb
shows only that the program "exited with code 01":

But I wonder: is this the problem with mozilla?:

 $ uname -r
3.0.0_STABLE

Is that tag flummoxing the startup?

No no no, my fish's name is Eric, Eric the fish. He's an halibut. I am
not a looney! Why should I be tarred with the epithet looney merely
because I have a pet halibut?
