Subject: How to access serial ports on Belkin USB serial device?

I've got two of these devices, Belkin F5U103, which
according to the ubsa man page are supported.  When
plugged in the kernel recognizes them:

ubsa0 at uhub0 port 1
ubsa0: Belkin Components USB-232 ...
ucom0 at ubsa0

When I access the port via kermit:

set line /dev/ttyU0

there is an immediate system crash (page fault or
some such).  Is this the proper way to access the
serial port?  Probably not.

This is on a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop w/ netbsd
2.0.
