sorry, i cannot shed any new light on thius issue, i would like to know
if netbsd shares the same ppp(d) code with freebsd, which is a linux
reworking of the old pppd (identified as ppp0 in freebsd) kernel code.

and or does netbsd have/use the similar end user ppp software (typified
with its tun0 device signature.

sorry for my lack of specific detail i don't have a current netbsd and
or recent intallation (v2.0) set of cdroms (install set and packages
set) downloading is a bit of a chore with my permanent pppd (dialup
modem) connection over a 14k4 modem link to the backbone .. slow but
ultra reliable even with ns16540 uarts embeded on old intel 486dx33
based "router"
