Almost the same problem here on my cheap Crusoe-Laptop with rtk0,
ifconfig says "no media", but I'm connected to my 100baseT net and can
use it. If I scp sth to my server I get a lot of watchdog timeouts on
the konsole and a lot of CPU load, which may be caused by the
rtk-driver (Realtek-NICs are IMO the worst one can get). The Laptop
is still running a one year old 1.6G or H, since I don't have time to
update it :-(
