Hello,

First of all thanks to everyone for making me aware of the possibility
to change
MAC-addresses. I had thought they were hardcoded on the cards. After
all, MAC-addresses
are supposed to be unique and card manufacturers are assigned blocks of
addresses by some
institution, AFAIK.

Since it can be done - even /has/ been done before - there's really no point
in keeping it out of the system. And if bochs can do it from userspace,
I assume
it's probably even more easy in kernelspace.
Also, I see that relying on ethernet addresses for security would be really
stupid, as well.

I should have longer about this before posting...
Again, thanks, I consider this valuable information, since many people
still seem to rely
on ethernet addresses.

Kind regards,
Benjamin
