Building mrtg in pkgsrc should install png automatically.

Did you get an error message about this?

The mrtg includes the ../../graphics/gd/buildlink3.mk buildlink which
includes ../../graphics/png/buildlink3.mk.

If you want to preinstall it, go into pkgsrc/graphics/png and try "make
install".
