Once upon a time, there were downloadable mbox-style files for the
mail archives (something like 1 per month, I think). These were
really nice. They disappeared a few years ago, and as far as I know
are no longer available. Is there a source for them, anymore? It
has been asked more than once, but I've never seen a definitive answer,
though the last time that I asked, I got one or two wistful "I dunno,
but I wish it were still there, too" type emails.

It's come up to my mind again primarily because the NetBSD mail archive
started dropping all of the lists (at least the ones that I read)
sometime on the 23rd, and did not resume until sometime on the 26th.
Usually when the archive stops and wakes up, it recovers missing mail,
but the missing days are not filled in now.

Another thing that would be nice is that I could have the lists
presented in order-received, rather than sorted by the date that
the sender claims. A few months ago, one of the lists got a
message future-dated to September of this year. Smaller offsets
due to skewed clocks and offset timezones are not uncommon (so that
often I have to go to a previous day to find followups to a message).
I would not be surprised if I missed completely some emails that
were set back.

Anyway, the real question is: Can I download complete mbox archives
of the lists anywhere? Broken up by month, or even by day, is fine.
It is fine if they are not made available until they are marked read-
only (i.e., closed for future appends), though in that case daily
mboxes would be preferable.

I guess I could just set up an archiving account on my mailserver
and subscribe to all of the lists whether I read them or not---though
that won't help me for mail that has already gone by.
