I am trying to build some software I downloaded source for about two
months ago. I get this error.

checking whether build environment is sane... configure: error: ls -t
appears to fail. Make sure there is not a broken
alias in your environment
configure: error: newly created file is older than distributed files!
Check your system clock

This makes no sense to me. First, the only alias I have is ls='ls -F'
and even when I remove that I still have the problem, second, my system
time is synced with ntpd, and third, all the distributed files are at
least 2 months old since that's when I DL'd them.

I've searched the web and found people with similar problems going back
at least 4 years, but I haven't seen any solutions that I haven't already
accounted for. I am running bash on a pretty stock 1.6 system. Any
pointers appreciated. I'm thinking of just commenting out this check in
the configure script and seeing how much farther I can get.

Thanks,
Tim
