Why would nfsd bog down a CPU when trying to write a large file
(180MB)?

Smaller files 3-10MB will let the CPU stay around 40%, and the network
jumps from 2.7MB/s to 1Mb/s to 500k -> 10k/s and then spike back to
2.xMB/s again.

The larger files just grind it down to 7k/sec and then the CPU usage
goes through the roof.

I am using automount (OS X) on the client and am unsure what write
size I am using. Is there a way of telling?
