I just do:

 time ./build.sh -d -D /backups/netbsd/destdir

Because I don't want to overwrite my running install.

This took almost six hours. (This reminds me that bash-builtin time
reported ",*(.0++m.,.551s" due to some formatting error/overflow.)

You should try your steps :)

(Just make sure to not overwrite your current install unless you really
want to take a chance.)
