If I can't find the list of branches documented, I usually pick a file that
should have been in the repository for a while and run `cvs log` on it. For
pkgsrc, you could run `cvs log pkgsrc/Makefile | more` and look at the
"symbolic names" section at the top.

Yes. If you wanted the 1.6.1 branch, you would need the "netbsd-1-6-1" tag,
for example, `cvs co -P -rnetbsd-1-6-1 pkgsrc`
