Not particularly. The pkgsrc and xsrc head should each still support
netbsd-1-5, so netbsd-1-6 is no trouble.

The current xsrc is the latest release of XFree86 -- 4.3.0 -- on most
ports, so that's probably what you want. (The tag is at 4.2.1).

"pkgsrc" has a netbsd-1-6-1 tag for the pending NetBSD 1.6.1 release,
but there are interesting things in current pkgsrc already. The main
benefit of the tag (and 1.6.1 pkgsrc.tgz), is that everything's tested
to build together. That might be best for a one-time thing, but if you
want the latest releases of packages (with bug-fixes), and you're
willing to track pkgsrc via cvs, you probably want the head.
