Look in your cvs(1) manual page:
"Use the -A option to reset any sticky tags ... use the -A option to make
cvs forget these specifications, and retrieve the ``head'' version of the
file ..."
The "head" is the current, development versions. You were asking for the
version at the time of 1.6 release.
