I just recently went through the same decision. Tried a few. At
present I am happy with IceWM. It is way faster than KDE, lacks
all the things I presently want a WM to lack, and has the things
I want it to have.

I am too disorganized to do without multiple desktops. But I like
to use the command line. I can make menues, yes. But I am getting
more used to keystroke combos...which I get to pick what they'll
be.

I chose that for the 233MHz 6GB ThinkPad to save some space and
some time. Then I liked it so much that in upgrading the 700MHz
20GB Celeron tower I did likewise...not even bothering to re-
install KDE there.

Don't know if IceWM is the best or not. But I like it very well.

Enjoy,

Gan
