that's true, but if you're using build.sh, you should also know that

$ ./build.sh -h
Usage:
build.sh [-bdEnortUu] [-a arch] [-B buildid] [-D dest] [-i idir] [-j njob]
    [-k kernel] [-M obj] [-m mach] [-O obj] [-R release] [-T tools] [-w wrapper]
...
    -o          set MKOBJDIRS=no (do not create objdirs at start of build)
...
$
