I run NetBSD on my home box and I use it for:

-ripping audio CDs to Ogg Vorbis format (cdparanoia, vorbis-tools)
-email (Sendmail, Fetchmail, Mutt)
-web browsing (Links-gui)
-working with HTML/X-HTML (vi)
-managing my comic book and graphic novel collection (vi)
-text editing (vi)
-image browsing (xli)

Other apps I use are: Bash, Nano, Aterm (for transparent terminal
windows in X), ImageMagick (for screenshots) and cdrecord. And, of
course, their dependencies.
