"drive offline" is what I got with the first reader.  I tried putting
media cards in, flipping them, and having them inserted (either way) when
the reader was plugged in.

The Belkin reader never did anything for me.  Totally useless so far as I
could tell.

The Zio! reader doesn't do anything, either.  Never says "offline", and
never lets me access the cards.
