Fernando,
NetBSD is pretty much a traditional Unix; oftentimes what you read about
unix-in-general or about some other flavor will apply to NetBSD as well.
That's especially true of architectural questions like the role of The X
Window System, window managers, and shells.
I often point people to http://www.geek-girl.com/unix.html
I came from the same background you have. FWIW, let me tell you that
everything you can do there can be done in NetBSD just as easily -- once
you know how! -- and a great many things you thought were impossible or
just never thought of are also possible. You just have to be prepared to
have fun working at it.
