if you came from windoze, you should firstly read sth about unix in general

these are just examples, i'm sure you can find plenty of pages like this 
on net...

you can also try http://www.netbsd.org/guide/ . i like that "book"... 
documents that roger mentioned are fine, but i think too specialized 
-however you should go through them some time
