	Thanks all for your help. I was hoping there was a better solution than removing the old lp* programs ahh well. I do have another problem and that is that cups won't print a page range that doesn't start at 1 i.e.
	lpr -o page-ranges 1-8 filename
prints pages 1 to 8 but
	lpr -o page-ranges 4-8 filename
prints nothing. Any suggestions.
