Me, either.  I found a workaround:  If I set the route before ppp0 comes 
up, the route appears on the correct interface.  So apparently ppp0 is 
somehow grabbing the route.  It's strange, because the default route 
goes over we0; ppp0 is a dialup for a remote machine.
