hello,

ive been perusing the archives on this issue (as well as reading
the docs) and i must say im still at a loss. ive been booting using
the bootlap floppies, but still the cd is not being read: the system
hangs or there is a kernel fault (ive not been able to recreate and
record the exact error). ive tried by exiting sysint in the install and

trying by mounting the cdrom (i get *device not configured* or
the system reboots or hangs). ive also tried to edit the disklabel
for the harddrive at this point to copy the kernel files from the msdos
disk (the editor is *ed* and i dont seem to be able to save the change:
i dont know if the label cant be changed for some reason or i just
dont know the correct command to save, which is possible).

id like some help on this issue. i repeat, i have read the docs and the

archives and found nothing concrete. im not terribly sophisticated in
kernel recompiling (i lack the compilers to do so for one) or applying
patches to a system that is not installed. if i can get a blueprint on
what
to do, id be so very grateful.

thanks,
