This is what I get:

  #  cvs update -d -P && make -k NOGCCERROR=no-errors build
  cvs [update aborted]: received broken pipe signal

  # env|grep -i cvs
  CVSROOT=:pserver:anoncvs@anoncvs.netbsd.org:/cvsroot

it was working a few weeks ago.  It's in the same window with the same 
settings.
