At a computer show I got a old JetDirect EX box for $50. You boot it with
bootp, and while it doesn't talk lpr (it's one of those that you connect
to on port 9100) you talk to it with a stock lpd. "Seems to work for me".
I understand newer ones speak lpr directly.
