The framebuffer fonts are much more attractive, e. g. nicely rounded.
One also gets more lines and columns just by setting smaller font size,
very useful on big screen. One can use the utility fbi to view graphics
mode images in frame buffer mode without leaving the text console.

Had already printed out these manpages before posting above. Did not
find infos sufficient for me (newbie) to answer above questions. Verbose
manpages are still very terse for me. What for example must one put into
which config files to get the resolution in 2?
