Did you install all the x distribution sets upon
install of the OS?

Looks like there's also a symlink to that library in
my /usr/pkg/share/x11-links/lib/libXext.so.6
directory, as well as a link to
/usr/pkg/emul/linux/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib/libXext.so.6.3
from
/usr/pkg/emul/linux/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib/libXext.so.6
