Howdy All,

Silly me. I went and installed a Perl module by the instructions on CPAN
rather than using the NetBSD pkgsrc.

It seemed to work, though... At least Perl does not complain when I do this...

perl -e "use DBI;"

But I have not tried anything fancier yet. So I am wondering if there may be
hidden problems waiting for me after having done this way.

Who can tell me? Is Perl on NetBSD tricked out in such a way that the usual
Perlish method of installing a Perl module may present problems?

I did like this...

1 Downloaded the Perl module tarball DBI-1.20.tar.gz
2 Unpacked it with tar to /usr/pkg/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/DBI-1.20
3 Did a cd into the newly unpacked DBI-1.20 directory
4 Then I did all of this...

  perl Makefile.PL
  make
  make test
  make install

Is that way okay? Or should I not do that anymore? Should I undo it and do
over?

Thanks,

Gan
