hello everyone:

i'm havnig a small problem with openssh 2.9p2 randoming freezing sessions
and then disconnecting.

Heres the full story.

had a dev box (bono - netbsd 1.5.2) on the internal network. put sshd on
it and was able to ssh in/out fine. put bono on the DMZ after developers
finished testing new application. firewall blocks everything except httpd,
sshd, and postgresql.

now, opening ssh connections to bono works fine. but at random intervals
between 30mins to one hour, the session will freeze and after awhile
(2mins to 5mins) the connection will close. developers seem to think that its the firewall.
perhaps it is? do i need to setup ident and allow it through the firewall?

looking at the logs i see this: fatal error: authentication timeout. don't
know if thats some sort of mid-session authentication, since i can't
pin-point the time/date/user info exactly. increased debugging/logging
provides nothing more useful.

this problem is not the same (for what i can tell) as the other well-known
sshd freezing problem in 2.9 (background jobs freezing logout).

thanks in advance,
Y
