I think it depends more on whether you are a touch-typist. I am not, 
and I started 40 years ago using a line-editor (from PAPER TAPE yuk!) 
and progressed through all the various permutations of editors til I 
got to MPW on the Mac. That was like I died & went to heaven! By 
actual measurement, although I am proficient at 4 or 5 editors, I can 
edit 3 times faster on the Mac!
