You only need to set defaultdomain if you are using NIS. You probably
know this from reading your /etc/defaults/rc.conf file.

I can't speak for your system, but I know my gateway is certainly not
my IP address. 24.10.20.x uses 24.10.20.1 as the gateway using a subnet
of 255.255.255.0.
