I am running Solaris on my SPARC station and NetBSD on a i386 machine. But
I think I have the ansewrs you are looking for.
In the /etc/reslov.conf, you need to have this:
search yourdomain.com
nameserver 1st.dns.server
nameserver 2nd..dns.server
nameserver 3rd..dns.server
...
...
nameserver nth.dns.server
List as many DNS servers as you have. I happen to have four in mine. This
will allow resolving DNS names like www.yahoo.com into IP addresses...
Next for your route information. You need to have a router setup. On my
next work, I have configured my NetBSD box as my router/firewall. The way
you configure NetBSD is by putting defaultrouter="a.b.c.d" into the
/etc/rc.conf, where a.b.c.d is your router. I am sure there is a way to
have this change take effect without booting, but I am ignorent of how to do
that, so reboot:)
