A multisession CD is a CD on which several block of data have been burnt at
different time. To be able to add some data to a already-burnt CD, the disk
must not be closed (otherwhise you can't add a new session).
Usually CD-R softwares allow you to leave the disk open, although the default
is to close it.

No, not at all. NCR 5380 chip can be found on various busses (qbus on vax,
VME or SBUS for Sun, etc ...)
