OK, I'll believe you - I'm one of the few people who was around using unix
in the pre-vax days, but who never (really) used it on a pdp-11...

That was just something I vaguelly remembered hearing, though it might
have only applied to some models of the pdp-11.   Or maybe it was just that
the FPU made integer division faster (on some models maybe).   Never mind.
