It can be compiled without threads. The version in /usr/pkgsrc
installs without threads (and without any problems, at least on
netbsd-current).
I've been running 9.1.0 for 3 days now without any problems. In my
opinion the fear causing people to upgrade only part-way to 8.2.3-REL
is unfounded.
