Kernel threads are described on pages 80 and 81 of The
Design and Implementations of the 4.4BSD Operating
System.  The conclusion is "The 4.4BSD distribution
did not have kernel-thread support enabled, primarily
because the C library had not been rewitten to be able
to handle multiple threads."

Has BSD had kernel threads all along?  Is this
question an oversimplification?
