This is true - it gets worse because the dump format is endian
specific.  FWIW the NetBSD restore seems to have the smarts to spot a
dump that is byte swapped and DTRT (kudos to the person who did this,
whoever you were).  I have been able to read a dump tape written on a
Sun on a NetBSD box in the past.
