This seems to be generally true with the GENERIC kernel; my NetBSD
root partition is on the second disk on the second SCSI bus (pmax),
and I have to build a custom kernel with the root device identified in
the kernel config file (sorry - can't remember the parameter) in order
to stop the boot from pausing to ask where the root device is.
