FWIW in the 1.5_ALPHA2 GENERIC kernel config file there is the following

# PCI SCSI controllers
ahc*    at pci? dev ? function ?        # Adaptec [23]94x, aic78x0 SCSI

So, it looks like it is. Tho YMMV of course.
