Subject: XFree86 3.3.6 crashes hard on Millennium II

I have a desktop system with a Matrox Millennium II in it, and during attempts
to upgrade it to 1.4.2 (and 1.5ALPHA2), I discovered that XFree86 3.3.6
appears to not work with this card anymore.

Behavior is that the X server prints everything it should, but just at the
point where the screen would switch to graphics, the system hangs hard.
(Network logins go dead, can't ctrl-alt-backspace, can't get into ddb.)

I've found that XFree86 3.3.3.1 (from NetBSD 1.4.1) works okay on 1.4.2,
but clearly this is suboptimal.

Anyone seen this before? I've already tried the usual XF86Config twaddling
and it doesn't change the behavior at all. (XF86Config available in private
email by request.)
