If I unplug the serial cable from the computer (i386) that is using a serial
console, it drops into ddb. I believe the same is true if the other computer
is rebooted. Is there a way of just dropping into ddb if I send a break?

I don't think so as break is a bunch of zeros, and if I unplug the wire, a
bunch of zeros will be read, but one of you may have come up with a cunning
combination of CONMODE= IGNBRK/BRKINT etc or fiddling the cable!

Any idea?

Cheers,

Patrick
