hi all!
i seem to have missexpressed myself and got many of you thinking in the
direction of nfs or such problem. let me say again what happened:

i attempt to telnet into my bsd box and get a connection and a login
request but after about 1 - 2 seconds the connection is shut again.

therefore i go to my bsd machine and switch on the monitor and try to
login locally. i write the username and the HD rattles a little and then
it asks me to login again.

since everything else seems to be working (router facilities like ipnat
and ipf, as well as ftp to the box) i decide to ignore the problem for a
while. now, after about 12 hours i retry to rlogin and telnet and they
both work as if nothing had happened... isn't that strange?

i doubt this has anything to do with nfs or network card speeds but rather
a meaner fault. maybe even due to my old hardware. its not really
bothering me but i thought it was worth pointing out and seeing if maybe
someone else suffers similar computer confusions.

regards,
  shadi
