I'm pretty sure it's a security feature to guarantee the system has at least
one viable console. I am hoping to play with that code soon and allow for a
kernel option to make 50 lines the default. (This means compiling the 50 line
font into the kernel, something the Atari port already lets you do for the VGA
cards that it supports.)
