I will try that on Monday.  Linux install program also failed.

Well, the boot loader is supposed to be able to deal with this, and your
fdisk
certainly can, so it may be a limitation of sysinst.
Could you try to partition you drive with fdisk from the shell command
line ? (fdisk -u wd0)
